Mortgage Matters Workshop
Members of BHPC – including HUD-certified Housing Counselors -- developed a 20 minute educational Power Point presentation entitled “Mortgage Matters” to introduce workshop participants to mortgage terminology and the foreclosure process. This is part of an ongoing effort by Baltimore City and the Coalition to help the citizens of Baltimore address the foreclosure crisis that is threatening their homes and communities.
Mortgage Matters is geared toward homeowners who think they may need help or are already having trouble paying their mortgages. The presentation provides information on understanding mortgages and the foreclosure process and gives homeowners the tools to develop a plan-of-action on how to deal with the threat of foreclosure.
The presentation is intended to prepare homeowners for productive counseling sessions. It connects homeowners with the resources to help sustain the lifestyle changes they need to make, regardless of the outcome from mortgage problems.
