Sharpening Your Toolbox:
Foreclosure Prevention and Mitigation Strategies
April 21, 2009
Approximately 200 housing counselors, lawyers, government leaders, funders, and other interested practitioners gathered at the Tremont Grand Hotel on April 21st to learn about and share information about foreclosure prevention and mitigation strategies. Speakers focused on local, state and national initiatives. Chief Judge Robert M. Bell provided the keynote speech describing why the growing foreclosure crisis moved him to launch an unprecedented effort to recruit pro bono lawyers to help homeowners in trouble. Julia Gordon, Senior Policy Counsel at the Center for Responsible Lending, was the luncheon speaker. She described the impact of national legislation and program on foreclosure prevention activities.
